What is a Saint Cycle?
In baseball, a Saint Cycle is the accomplishment of one batter who has, in every plate appearance in a single game, only walks, sacrifice bunts, sacrifice flys, hit by pitches, and productive outs, while getting at least four different of those outcomes. A productive out is an out that advances a base runner from any base.
Who is the creator of this statistic?
Kelsey McKinney introduced the Saint Cycle in her article at defector.com on April 12, 2021.
Why only those five outcomes?
According to Kelsey “a player must use each of their at-bats for the benefit of their team and not themselves.” Outs that are not productive, and hits that benefit the player themself, are disqualifying.
How do you figure out who qualifies as a Saint?
Kelsey has a contact at Elias Sports Bureau who found a few. I use data made available by Retrosheet at retrosheet.org. I used my own custom program to parse the game data and had to do some manual checking for disqualifying hits and outs. Any mistakes on this page are my own.

How many Saints are there?
Kelsey has “canonized” four Saints, including the recently canonized Liam Hicks, who also qualified as Appearing for the Cycle. I found 21 more for a total of 25 from 1910 to present.
